LOYAL K.N.G

I found this by accident and was a little surprised. Thanks Loyal!

"Loyal K.N.G. is a brand that represents a lifestyle and promotion of culture and knowledge. Loyal in definition means “to be supportive of a cause,” while K.N.G. is an acronym that stands for “Knowledge Never Goes.” So, the meaning behind Loyal K.N.G. is: to be supportive of knowledge that never goes. The phrase “knowledge never goes,” comes from the fact that as we experience trouble, tragedy, and general down time, the “knowledge” we gained throughout our lives will continually push us through to achieve our dreams and aspirations. So, regardless of passing age or troubling times, no one can take away your knowledge. Loyal K.N.G. also contains a double entendre of meaning in that it also represents “Loyal King”. To me a true king is the leader of his country on basis of his knowledge, since a knowledgeable king is a powerful king." - fatkidonfire

Geek Art Exposure

You know how some people want to be on the Die Line or Lovely Package.
Well I wanted to be on Geek-Art! And today I checked my website email on a whim and got this:

This is brilliant! Ok, so I'm refereed to as 'he' but, it's the internet. Whoever did the poster for BAGD movies were also on here a few months ago and when I saw that, I knew what site I wanted to be featured on.

So thank you Geek Art!

Hand Drawn Awesome

A few days ago I got an email through my website saying they 'had an offer for me.' I literally thought it was junk mail at first but the impulsive side of me clicked on it and I'm most certainly glad I did.

Hand Drawn Awesome is a relatively new website dedicated to delving into the world of indie, small press, web and creator-owned comics. They aim to expose the works of creators new and old to a wider audience and maybe, just maybe introduce people to some stuff they might never have considered or taken a chance on before.

And today Chris emailed me back saying I was the December feature: Link!

Thanks guys! And I hope more people see this website, it is awesome.

Thought Bubble Comic Con

Yesterday was the Thought Bubble comic convention here in Leeds, Uk. It was amazing.

I was on staff so I'd had less than 4 hours sleep thanks to Harry Potter 7.1 the night before and was at the Royal Armories for 7am. But I was not going to let that spoil my day.

Got to show Leigh Gallager (of Defoe 1666) to his table.
Him: Oh, hi I'm Leigh. *as I'm looking for his banner*
Me: Oh I know, me too!
Him: L-e-i-g-h?
Me: yes!
Him: =D

At the end of the day I got him to sign my staff top as well as Adi Granov (X-men, Extremist Iron Man.) Was a gopher for the panelists, offered John Romita Jr (Kick-Ass) water and coffee (to the jealousy of a fan boy who was stood behind me) and the same with Brian Talbot. There were tonnes of other great artists there too but I didn't really get that much of a chance to stop and ponder about. It was a brilliant busy day and someone out there has a photograph of me reading volume 7 of the boy's as I was positioned out side the cloak room for an hour. I'm not sure who he is and I only looked up after he grinned and ran away. So Kudos to you, creepy photographer.

Jared, of OK comics, also snapped a picture of me looking quite annoyed that I had been left to watch the Self Made table while he went and moved the van. However, I left my email and website with them and they are currently looking for interns.

I was hoping to go to the after party but when I went home to change and eat, closed my eyes for all of ten minutes and woke up at midnight. Ahh well, I still had a brilliant day, got tonnes of back issue comic books and shook some brilliant hands.

I'm so looking forward to next year when I'll hopefully have a table with my own work on.

It Works!

I spent the whole day yesterday trying to figure out why the address wasn't forwarding to my own domain name. I assumed it would simply take a while to swap. Looked at it with a clear head this morning and realised I was forwarding it to an address that doesn't exist any more. Silly me.

But, now my website works and is fully functional. There's still a few pieces of work that need to put up and the galleys to be ordered. (Not to mention updating my business card to reflect my domain name.)

Swish!

Website update. Still with my DA portfolio, which I will be hopefully be setting with my own domain name some time next week. I'm not sure why but I quite like the layout of the "about me" page.

Edit: Registered www.Leighwortley.co.uk and forwarded it to my DA portfolio but it may take a few days to stick. (hopefully)

Business Card Variations!

Trying a couple of different variations of my business card after Paul pointed out that the illustration montage was a little too distracting for the front.

Variation 1:

Variation 2:

Variation 3:

Business Card Final!

This is the business card I went for in the end:

It might need a little tightening up and the print quality isn't the best, but I quite like it.

Business Cards!

Next time I'll remember to add crop marks.
Just 7 variations in black and white. I'm rather fond of the last one at the moment. Black and white to keep down printing costs (perhaps printed on coloured card) I'm not sure yet.

DA portfolio is a place holder for my website. It'll be great when I ahve one up and running but for now, the DA one will do. It's not a free service, you can enable it when you subscribe to DA (which I do as I'm on it all of them time and I dislike adverts...) Another good thing about the DA portfolio is that if I choose to, I can set my own domain name without the "daportfolio" bit.
